Cincinnati Reds Rookie Powers Group to Franchise History This Week
USA TODAY Sports

The Cincinnati Reds lost to the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night by a score of 3-2, but lets actually go back to Monday night, where the team accomplished an impressive piece of franchise history.

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

On Monday, Christian Encarnacion-Strand recorded the 40th rookie HR for the Reds this season, the most rookie HR for any team in MLB this season.

It’s already tied for the 3rd-most rookie HR in a season in Reds franchise history and their most through 115 games of a season.

The Reds have been one of the best stories in baseball this year because of their vaunted rookie class. Encarnacion-Strand, Elly De La Cruz, Matt McLain and Spencer Steer make up of the core of the Reds' future position player group and should have Reds fans excited for years to come.

As good as the Reds have been this year, they are slumping at the wrong time. They've lost seven of their last 10 games and are now 1.5 games back in the National League Central division race.

They are tied with the division-rival Chicago Cubs for the third and final wild card spot. The San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies hold the top two spots.

The Reds will take on the Marlins again on Wednesday afternoon.

First pitch is set for 12:35 p.m. ET as Graham Ashcraft (CIN) pitches against longtime Reds ace Johnny Cueto, who now pitches for Miami.

Ashcraft is 6-7 with a 5.18 ERA while Cueto is 0-3 with a 5.32.
